The meaning of volume is the measure of space taken up by a three-dimensional object. For example, the space within a container is known as its capacity but as the thickness of many containers. It has become acceptable to refer to the space inside as volume. Then, the capacity can be measured by using standard units in millimeters (ml), non standard units (more or less) and litters (l) in the metric system.
